A GENERAL INTRODUCTION

A Private Client solicitor is one who can be described as advising individuals and their families as to how to retain and increase the family’s wealth. This can be by a number of means including sensible tax planning, the making of wills and the drafting of trusts. Although not strictly associated with wealth preservation, this discipline also includes the preparation of powers of attorney.

At Tedstone George and Tedstone, we have spent many years advising individuals and their families from the very, very wealthy to those with modest wealth as to how to arrange their affairs best and we look forward to discussing these matters with you.

Probate and Administration of Estates

Our charges can be based on the value of the estate and these can only be ascertained once we have determined the estate’s value.

Our costs will normally be based on the extent of work involved and will be charged at our hourly rates, as below. We can be instructed to deal with as much or as little of the estate as you choose.

Works that you may ask us to carry out include: notifying banks, investment companies, utility companies, preparing Probate papers, collecting in the assets, arranging for the payment of any estate debts, Inheritance Tax and funeral costs, preparing estate accounts and distributing the estate to the beneficiaries. However, you may wish to carry out all or some of these actions yourself to save costs.

We offer an initial fixed fee appointment which costs £30 + VAT for a thirty-minute consultation, where we can assess the works involved, take any instructions from you and also gather an idea of the value of the estate.
